AfterPay Approval & Breakdown | United Taxi Services

4 Payments. First Payment Today — After Approval.

We send the customer an invoice link with AfterPay. They apply on their phone. We do not know if they are approved until they finish that link. If they’re approved, AfterPay gives them a spending limit and covers the rest.

Important
These are example dates/amounts.
AfterPay / Square sets the real draft dates after they approve the customer. We cannot promise approval, and we cannot promise draft dates until they finish the invoice and get approved.
Say This to the Customer Do Not Promise Approval

"We can set this up in 4 payments. I'm going to send you an invoice that already has AfterPay built in. You'll open that invoice on your phone, tap the AfterPay option, and it will take you to AfterPay to apply. If they approve you, your first payment today is $0.00, and AfterPay fronts the rest for you right now."

"After you're approved, AfterPay sends you right back to the same invoice so you can finish checkout using that approval. We don't control who gets approved — that's completely up to AfterPay."

"AfterPay is basically short-term financing. They pay us so you can move forward today, and then you finish the other 3 payments directly with them. Those follow-up payments usually come out automatically every two weeks."

  • Step 1: We send you an invoice with AfterPay already on it.
  • Step 2: You open the invoice, tap AfterPay, and it takes you to apply.
  • Step 3: If you're approved, AfterPay sends you back to the invoice so you can make just the first payment today using that approval.
  • Step 4: AfterPay covers the rest of the balance up front for your service, and you finish the remaining 3 payments with them over time.
  • Card requirement (important): AfterPay usually will NOT take prepaid or reloadable cards (CashApp card, GreenDot, NetSpend, Chime prepaid, etc.). They want a normal debit or credit card tied to a real bank or credit union with a real billing address at a physical location — not a reloadable card and not a fake address.

For Staff Only Do Not Read To Customer

Desktop: Add Afterpay to a new Invoice (Square Dashboard)

  1. Sign in to Square Dashboard on desktop.
  2. Go to Invoices (under Orders & payments / Payments).
  3. Click Create invoice.
  4. Fill in the invoice: customer, items/amount.
  5. Open the Accepted payment methods / Payment methods panel and check Afterpay.
  6. Review and click Send (or Save as draft / Preview as needed).

Add Afterpay to your Default Invoice Template (so it’s pre-checked)

  1. In Dashboard: Invoices → Settings → Invoices.
  2. Under Templates, open DEFAULT Invoice and click Edit.
  3. Scroll to Payment options → Payment method → Accepted payment methods.
  4. Check Afterpay, then save.

If you don’t see Afterpay on invoices

  1. Enable it globally: Settings → Account & Settings → Payments → Payment methods, find Afterpay, toggle On.
  2. For invoices, Afterpay is off by default and only supported when the invoice has a single Pay total (BALANCE) request. Avoid deposit/split payment requests if you want Afterpay to appear.

Approval & service flow

  1. Send the invoice with Afterpay enabled; the customer applies on their device.
  2. We do not know if they’re approved until they finish the link.
  3. If approved, they pay the first ~25% now via the invoice; Afterpay covers the rest.
  4. Continue service only after the invoice shows the first payment PAID.
Fast Close Line (AFTER approval shows):
"You're approved. Your first payment today is $0.00. AfterPay is covering the rest so we can move forward right now. The other 3 payments will come out automatically."
Card / Address Rules
